Sweet and Zesty Chicken

Brown sugar seems to be everywhere these days.  I guess that means it's a "food
trend".  Have you ever noticed how
that happens?  One person manages to come
up with a fresh idea, and next thing you know, every chef on TV is borrowing
it.  Well, now you can count me in too
because that's exactly how I came up with this chicken dish.  I wasn't going to share it because it's not
entirely original, but sometimes I just have to be an ordinary girl and steal
like everyone else.  Give this a try,
then tell all your friends about it.

Sweet and Zesty Chicken Recipe

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon BBQ spice (or a mixture of paprika, garlic and your
    favorite herb)

  • 1 tablespoon thyme

  • 1 tablespoon cumin

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Olive Oil

  • 1 pound chicken pieces

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix together sugar and spices in a bowl.
Splash olive oil over chicken pieces then dredge in spice
mixture.
Bake for 45 minutes.

Aww, how sweet of you to share that idea with us!

Actually, it sounds good. Just yesterday I was disappointed with the results of a pork brine I tried, realizing that sweetness was lacking Brown sugar certainly crossed my mind. The owner of a local restaurant/bar and I discussed this over beverages and decided that apple cider should be considered. Perhaps THAT will become a trend!

Thanks, guys. Apple cider is also an excellent idea. Less sugary, perfect for fall, and you can turn the leftover into a cocktail :)
