Fresh Homemade Salsa Recipe
Fresh Homemade Salsa
Warm weather calls for real salsa, not that mush in a jar. Dice a few veggies, squeeze a lime and dip into the best salsa you've ever tasted.
I am getting completely spoiled with this warm weather. Barefoot, eating salsa and having a lime-aided beverage signals summertime relaxation for me. Like most everyone else, I do buy jars of salsa. Almost every time, I try a different brand hoping to get it right. Some come close. But nothing is as good as the stuff you get in a real Mexican restaurant served with warm tortilla chips. You can have authentic flavor at home for very minimal effort if you're willing to dice a few ingredients. I've never been a big appetizer maker, and salsa is sold in a jar at every corner store, so it seems a bit like wasted effort. Once you make your own, you'll appreciate the incredible difference. In fact, I think making salsa, serving it with good chips (or bread) and a delicious drink gets you out of making dinner entirely. Who needs meat?
Fresh Homemade Salsa Recipe
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 jalapeño pepper, diced
1/4 red onion, diced
1 garlic clove, diced
1 bunch fresh cilantro, chopped
salt and pepper
1 lime, juiced
Put all ingredients in a bowl and toss well. Keep in refrigerator about one hour to let flavors meld. Serve with chips or bread, a good beverage, and enjoy outdoors -- or at least with windows open.
