Baked Ham with Orange Sauce Recipe
It's
still a little early for holidays yet, but those of you who are organized
planners may be thinking about ham already. This is my short-cut ham recipe. I found it the other day in my recipe box, scrawled out in my usual chicken
scratch. Notice I resisted say ham
scratch. I can't for the life of me
remember making this, but if I write it down, that means it didn't poison
anyone and is safe for a remake. Here is
a mostly quick, but respectable enough for guests Easter Ham recipe. Happy Holidays. Early.
Baked Ham with Orange Sauce Recipe
- 1 Ham (whatever size)
- Some water
- Some wine (white)
- Pork Spice Rub (McCormick makes a good one)
Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons orange
marmalade - 1 tablespoon apple cider
vinegar - 2 tablespoons white wine
- 2 tablespoons horseradish
- 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
- 1 teaspoon corn starch
- 2 teaspoons cold water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pack spice rub all over ham. Place on race in pan. Pour water and wine (about 2 cups total) in
bottom. Bake 2 hours. About halfway through, baste with pan
juice. Combine sauce ingredients in
saucepan except cornstarch and water. Heat to boil. Combine cornstarch
and water in cup. Stir in to hot
sauce. Let boil, then cool to
thicken. Heat before serving with
ham. Good with potato salad and
broccoli.
