Christmas Fat

It was a merry quiet Christmas around here, but I have to rant a bit about my dinner.  It was the traditional standing rib roast everyone seems to want.  Being slightly addicted to food television as I am, I saw a certain famous chef preparing a certain popular horseradish-based rib roast recipe and decided to try it.  The flavor was decent, but do we really need to add extra fat to red meat?  Smothered in olive oil, on top of fat, it was a bit heavy.  Of course, the potato side dish said chef made (that I also tried) was similarly fat heavy even though I reduced it considerably.  Mostly, we felt like Christmas logs on the fire after, which is not my idea of a good time.  The whole deal wasn't ready until 9 p.m., so that didn't help either.  Do I sound like the Christmas Scrooge or what?  Fortunately, Christmas Eve's lobster dinner was a winner.  As soon as I stop feeling so lazy, I'll post it.  Hope you had a Merry Christmas.
